NADA Art Fair 2005

So while many of you enjoy a four day weekend and Turkey fest -- I get into full art fair mode. Yea -- It's that time again -- The NADA Art Fair 2005.

This year my booth is gonna be off the hook. I'm bringing huge neon sculpture, paintings and more installation work. Pictures to be posted later in the week

It's taken months of planning and organizing. It's incredibly important to me and my business -- the exposure is unparalleled -- every major collector, curator and museum director in the world comes. Add to that the fact that I did a 1/3 of my business for the year in four days in Miami last year -- you can understand how I've got a lot riding on it.

Plus it's a hell of a lot of fun.

I'll keep you up to date as we go. Last year I blogged the fair -- plus this year I've blogged from Art Brussels and Fiac. It's one of the few times I get all art worldy on the blog.

How do you measure a year of a blog?

WOO HOO! This weekend marks the one year anniversary of Thought Not. Juan and I became bloggers because we were frustrated that our favorite bloggers had taken the weekend off to eat Turkey and Yams and we were bored.

We signed on to typepad and Boozhy and Thought Not were born.

And what a year. I'm glad I've shared this part of it with you. I've never been much for journaling but this space has served as a place to air ideas, get feedback, develop a couple fans and make some people think I'm the devil.

A year is longer than most relationships I've been in and certainly longer than I've ever been able to keep any sort of journal. Little did I know the narcissist in me can do it if I just make it public!

So a big thanks to the 1000 people who read this everyday, send me emails, comment and follow the comings and goings of my  friends and I.

Vegas Baby, Vegas

Friday Night we opened Jen's show at the gallery. It kicked ass. A 7 channel video production -- last one in the old space. We carpeted the entire room - painted it black -- but to get it you have to come see it. My description would not do it justice.

8AM Saturday the alarm was going off telling me to get up and walk the dogs -- cause I was on my way to Vegas for UFC 56. There were scheduled to be two title fights -- Matt Hughes Vs. Riggs for the Welterweight Championship and Rich Franklin Vs. Nate Quarry for the Middleweight championship. Long story short -- Riggs didn;t make weight so it wasn't a title fight. The only title fight was Rich Franklin defending his title.

My assorted family members had all managed to find reasons not to go but I was set on going. I invited this guy Sid from Fort Lauderdale to come with me -- he said yes. Hell of a first date if you ask me.

It worked out as well as I could have hoped -- great, sweet man and a fun travel companion.

So we went to the fights Saturday night and it was a fucking blast to see it live from the MGM Grand. The following Video shows our view as Joe Rogan interviewed Rich Franklin after he knocked out Nate Quarry in the first round -- knocked out cold I might add.

The next day we went downstairs to the huge breakfast buffet that Vegas is famous for. We were about to get up and leave and Sid wanted seconds. I was stuffed but sat and waited for him -- "You always gotta get seconds kid" he said.

Just then Rich Franklin walked in -- he walked right by our table and I stood up and told him what a great fight it was. I NEVER do this but I said -- mind it I get a picture with you?"

"Not at all."

So Sid snapped this pic of me and Rich "Ace" Franklin -- the champ eating breakfast the day after defending his belt with a world class knockout.

Vegas kicks ass. And you always gotta get seconds.

Richard -- our only paying advertiser -- apparently also reads some sort of thing I see on the subway with pages and words people stick their faces in -- anyway -- I think they have something to do with current events.

But thankfully he gets ink on his hands and alerts us to this unseemly story.
